After that, I founded an affiliate marketing website that grew to 71,921 sessions in Month 10, generating $5,463 in revenue. By Month 17 I’d reached $8,631 in revenue with a combination of affiliate referral commissions and display ads.

While my most recent success is in the affiliate marketing space, I’ve had success generating revenue through other channels. That sports news blog I ran for 6 years? I created and sold a product through that site and had affiliates of my own! Promoting your content through a combination of email outreach and social media campaigns can get your high-quality work in front of the right eyes, increasing your chances of building strong backlinks and social shares.
The most neglected part of the process, conversion optimization is often one of the easiest ways to improve your content’s performance. Whether your goal is to refer sales of products, sell your own products, or capture emails, it’s important to test, measure, and update your existing content.
