Content without a strategy is like a ship without a rudder. Make your hard content creation efforts count with a thoughtful strategy designed to get results.
Content marketing is vital to your business’s sustained success.
If you’re anything like me, you invest a lot of resources in creating content. Whether those resources are your time (the most precious resource of all) or money, chances are consistent content creation is one of the costliest aspects of running your business.

The benefits of a robust, thoughtful content marketing strategy
I like to call my content marketing strategies “thoughtful” because it implies a steady, measured process of coming to a conclusion. It doesn’t have to take weeks or months to develop a robust plan, but it does take a lot of thought and foresight. When done, you’ll observe these 6 benefits.
The content you create will have been created for a purpose. There’s no throwing spaghetti against the wall to see what sticks. Instead, you know the exact reason you created that content, what you want your reader to do when they’re finished consuming it, and how it fits with your site’s big picture.
Sometimes it takes me over a week to create a truly useful resource for my readers. If I’m spending that much time on a single piece of content, I’d better know why I’m doing it. Having a content marketing strategy ensures your limited resources are used efficiently.
Einstein said, “If you can’t explain it simply, you don’t understand it well enough.” A thoughtful content marketing strategy helps present all of your information in an organized and simple manner, letting you show off your expertise as an established authority in your niche.
The “spaghetti against the wall” method of content creation often results in spotty coverage of your niche. In some places, there are big gaps. In others, there’s too much overlap with your own articles competing against each other in the Google search results pages. A strategic plan ensures seamless coverage without duplication.
You probably don’t spend hours crafting the perfect blog post just for the fun of it. Chances are, you want to monetize the traffic that post drives. With a thoughtful content marketing strategy, each blog post, infographic, and video plays an important role in the lead generation and customer conversion processes.
Proper internal linking structure is extremely important when trying to pass “link juice” to specific pages on your site. It’s also important to help Google understand what your site is about. A well-developed content marketing strategy helps you structure your site from Day 1, avoiding costly restructures down the road.
Curley Creative’s content marketing approach
I’m not like Miley Cyrus. I don’t want to come in like a wrecking ball and impose a one-size-fits-all plan on your site. I want to help you develop a content marketing strategy informed by what has and hasn’t worked for you in the past. After all, you’re the subject matter expert in your niche. I’m there to help guide you. Here’s how I do that.
Step 1 is to look at your existing content. What’s working and what isn’t? What gaps exist between your content and your competitors’? Are there any essential, must-have pages that an authority in your niche should have yet you don’t? The goal here is to understand who you are and what you’ve been doing.
Step 2 is to create a roadmap for future content creation. This also includes modifying existing content, or in some cases deleting content that isn’t performing. Every piece of content should serve a purpose in your lead generation and monetization process. Keyword research is crucial here.
Step 3 is to follow the roadmap. There are specific, proven content creation templates you can use to streamline the process of creating industry-leading content. Curley Creative can assist you in building out your process or be responsible for creating content.
